If the old saying "butter plus salt equals flavor" is true, somebody neglected to tell the folks at Weight Watchers. Simply the Best is a testament that good food need not always be accompanied by dietary guilt and that flavor doesn't have to be sacrificed in the name of health. The book's more than 250 sensible low-fat recipes cover the culinary spectrum, from entrees such as Bella Braised Chicken to desserts such as Strawberry Crepes.

While the book is designed to accompany the popular Weight Watchers diet program, it can be used by anyone interested in healthy, delicious, low-fat food. The prizewinning recipes are contributed by Weight Watchers members and staff from across the U.S., Canada, and England. For chefs new to low-fat cooking, Simply the Best is an excellent resource for learning flavorful combinations to substitute for traditional high-fat, high-caloric fare. Most inspiring is the sheer variety of recipes included in the book and the unique variations on old themes. While it may sound unconventional to purists, the Apple Cranberry Pie with Granola Crust is wonderful, and the Chicken Marsala with Green Grapes would go well on any table.

Reviews:

Not the Best, but better than others
This is not my favorite "light" cookbook, but it is better than the New Cookbook by Weight Watchers. I have had more success with this book than their "complete" book. Although I have not made many recipes from this, the ones I have tried have been pretty successful, but not the most flavorful. I really like the Cooking Light Cookbook for a more comprehensive book, but this one also has great, light recipes.
The Best Cookbook
Weight Watcher cookbook is one of my favorite book I have read. In this book the recipes are very simple with only four or five steps. The ingredients used are easily available. I like cooking my favorite dishes like Grilled Chicken, Turkey Sausage, and Mexican Egg Brunch when I have guests. This book is good for people who are dieting.

I also liked "The Power of Positive Habits"...it is sold out at Amazon but I found it for a discount at the Barnes & Noble website, or you can get it at "The Power of Positive Habits" website. ..the web address is the same as the book title and they are giving away over $1,000 in free e-books today
Wow! Who knew?
I joined WW several weeks ago expecting months of boring food and deprivation. I also made the extremely wise choice of purchasing this cookbook as well as a few other WW cookbooks. Hands down, this is the best! I have prepared many of the recipes and have yet to be disappointed. Occasionally, I will note a change I would make for my personal preference, but overall the directions, ease of prep and result have been truly wonderful. I am ordering 5 more for my siblings and their families for Christmas. Even if you're not a WW member, this is a book full of flavorful, straightforward recipes that will help keep you healthy for years to come.
Great for those on Weight Watchers
This book has easy to read instructions and great recipes. The comments from the women, who provided the recipes, help in serving suggestions.
YUMMY food, easy direction, not enough pictures
The food in this cookbook is YUMMY. The directions are very easy to follow. My only complaint is that there aren;t enough pictures. It's a GREAT addition to your cookbook library whether you are on a diet or not!!
