Reviews:

Great information. Terrible grammar.
This is one of the most fascinating health books I have ever read. It is packed with information that is presented in an interesting, logical, compelling manner. I intend to try to follow the five rules. The authors obviously keep up with the scientific literature and know what they are talking about. However, I found the bad grammar very distracting, and that is why I did not give this book five stars. It is mentioned that the first printing of the book was two years ago and that much information was added for this printing. I am at a loss to understand why the grammar was not corrected for this printing. Surely it must have been pointed out by someone. It is the worst I've ever seen in a professionally printed book. If bad grammar doesn't bother you, just ignore it and enjoy the fascinating content. To the authors: Thanks very much for the great content and all your hard work. Please, please, please get the grammar corrected next time by an expert. I would buy another copy of the book just to not have to look at all those errors. (I'm talking about obvious errors on most pages--not just a few here and there.)
This SHOULD be required reading!
This book is amazing. It should be required reading for anyone who wants to lose weight. Richards gives a LOT of background research, and technical information, but in a very easily read way. His suggestions for solving the problem of obesity have been working for me, which is incredible. I have been under a doctor's care for years for Metabolic Syndrome, been put on all kinds of drugs, and I finally had enough of pumping my system full of chemicals that gave NO improvement. I started following the simple steps in this book and have lost 16 pounds in four months, without drugs!
Good information, uneven writing
This is information that nearly everyone needs, and well worth digging in until you put it all together, but the authors don't quite manage the putting it all together part. It's mostly a matter of editing, or lack thereof - topics jump from one thing to the next and back again, often with one-liner conclusions (with citations) and choppy syntax. Others here have looked through it and said, "You read it and tell me what I need to know," because it's too hard to find a cogent beginning-middle-end rationale on almost any sub-topic. That being said, there is groundbreaking information here, and I'll keep this permanently for reference. Anyone with weight problems, diabetes, or any other autoimmune disease should be aware of the information in this book.
Poor Syntax
The book is difficult to read---not because of content, but because of poor syntax.
Amazing
Once I started read this book I could not put it down. It is an amazing crash course on the enodcrine system with the hormone Leptin at center stage. Mr. Richard's review of the research is complete and thorough. He spends the time describing and explaining the physiology of the endocrine system, how it works and why. The text is very consistent and repeats very key points throughtout the text that are imperative to preventing disease and pursuing excellent health. A must read!
