Health Books about pregnancy

What is pregnancy?

Pregnancy is the carrying of one or more embryos or fetuses by female mammals, including humans, inside their bodies. In a pregnancy there can be multiple gestations (for example, in the case of twins, or triplets). Human pregnancy is the most studied of all mammalian pregnancies.

Human pregnancy lasts approximately 40 weeks between the time of the last menstrual cycle and birth (38 weeks from fertilisation). The medical term for a pregnant woman is "genetalian," just as the medical term for the unborn human is an embryo (early weeks) and then "foetus" (until birth). A woman who is pregnant for the first time is known as a primigravida or gravida 1: a woman who has never been pregnant is known as a gravida 0; similarly, the terms para 0, para 1 and so on are used for the number of times a woman has given birth.

In many societies' medical and legal definitions, human pregnancy is arbitrarily divided into three trimester periods, as a means to simplify reference to the different stages of fetal development. The first trimester period carries the highest risk of miscarriage (natural death of embryo or fetus), while during the second trimester the development of the fetus can start to be monitored and diagnosed. The third trimester marks the beginning of viability, which means the fetus can survive if an early natural or induced birth occurs. Because of the possible viability of developed fetus, cultural and legal definitions of life often consider a fetus in the third trimester to be a distinct living person.

Reviews:

Small and handy
Very cute book but my book arrived together with other heavy books causing the paper cover to be 'crushed'. If you ever order this book, please specify that the packers put this on top instead of at the bottom of all other books as the spiral-bound of this book doesn't protect the cover. Would be nice to see a 'hardcover' spiral-bound version though! But anyway, this one is easy to carry around and can fit into most handbags.
Very useful to keep important information handy
I used this organizer to record everything that had to do with tests, and keep track of my diet, as the pregnancy progressed. I had a high risk pregnancy, so I was evaluated often. Being able to keep track of it all helped me to answer questions on those neverending hospital forms. It helped me organize the things I needed for my first born, although I didn't find the shopping list all that practical. But it was certainly a start, and there was enough space to create an ammended list.

I didn't use it as a diary, though. Too little space for that. But its compact size was wonderful to keep in my purse all the time and have important information at my fingertips.
Great Book For New Parents To Be
This is a great book. Especially since I'm going to be a new parent. I reccommend it to every body that is going to be a new parent and even for those that already are can refresh their memory as how to answer some questions they might have forgotten the answers to.
Used organizer?
This organizer had already been used by an expectant mother. I was looking for an organizer that I could track my own experiences in.
Goes well with the "expecting bible'
"What to Expect when You are Expecting" book is very detailed in describing what goes on during the nine months - but you are still left with some missing elements that the Organizer can help you with. For example: your doctor visits' and the results; your weight gain progress; your weekly food diary (are you missing any servings); and the most important for us was the section on "Baby Essentials - What You Will Need for Baby" which actually breaks down the categories of what you really need vs. what you think you should get (OR what your good intending friends and family tell you you should have at hand.)
