Health Books about pregnancy

What is pregnancy?

Pregnancy is the carrying of one or more embryos or fetuses by female mammals, including humans, inside their bodies. In a pregnancy there can be multiple gestations (for example, in the case of twins, or triplets). Human pregnancy is the most studied of all mammalian pregnancies.

Human pregnancy lasts approximately 40 weeks between the time of the last menstrual cycle and birth (38 weeks from fertilisation). The medical term for a pregnant woman is "genetalian," just as the medical term for the unborn human is an embryo (early weeks) and then "foetus" (until birth). A woman who is pregnant for the first time is known as a primigravida or gravida 1: a woman who has never been pregnant is known as a gravida 0; similarly, the terms para 0, para 1 and so on are used for the number of times a woman has given birth.

In many societies' medical and legal definitions, human pregnancy is arbitrarily divided into three trimester periods, as a means to simplify reference to the different stages of fetal development. The first trimester period carries the highest risk of miscarriage (natural death of embryo or fetus), while during the second trimester the development of the fetus can start to be monitored and diagnosed. The third trimester marks the beginning of viability, which means the fetus can survive if an early natural or induced birth occurs. Because of the possible viability of developed fetus, cultural and legal definitions of life often consider a fetus in the third trimester to be a distinct living person.

Reviews:

This book was great for a man that doesn't like to read anything but magazines
My husband read this book and I actually heard him chuckling out load at parts. This is an awesome book for the casual read about your wifes pregnancy. There are no medical facts to this book but there are enough views and ideas in this book for a first time father to be to get an idea about pregnancy without being bored out of their minds by the doctor speak in so many other books. I read it too and it was funny and there are a lot of truths in this book...they are just put at you as a first person view of things, it is a good book for the man that hates to read long drawn out books.
A bit of a disappointment
This brief little pregnancy memoir is amusing, but if you're looking for lots of useful information and a more in-depth narrative of the father-to-be experience, this book isn't worth purchasing.
It's cute, it's good for a few chuckles---and it's going into our yard-sale pile. Not worth keeping.
Not bad!! Funny!
I bought this book for my husband for Christmas, and it is really cute!! Bear in mind that it does not give a lot of detailed information, but it is written in an entertaining manner that makes it fun to read. If you want real pregnancy information, then read the "real" pregnancy books that are out there. But this one is cute for a dad-to-be!
Great little read for future mommies and daddies
Both my boyfriend and I loved this book. It is very entertaining and showed him that everything that has been happening to us is normal. It wasn't overly educational, but who buys a book with this title to be informed? I would recommend it for any dad-to-be with a sense of humor.
Hilarious!!!
This book is excellent for those macho type guys who are not really into reading in the first place. Not only is it a funny and easy read, it really does give good information about what to expect when your wife is pregnant. In fact my husband, while reading this book, told me some things I didn't even know yet!
