Health Books about pregnancy

What is pregnancy?

Pregnancy is the carrying of one or more embryos or fetuses by female mammals, including humans, inside their bodies. In a pregnancy there can be multiple gestations (for example, in the case of twins, or triplets). Human pregnancy is the most studied of all mammalian pregnancies.

Human pregnancy lasts approximately 40 weeks between the time of the last menstrual cycle and birth (38 weeks from fertilisation). The medical term for a pregnant woman is "genetalian," just as the medical term for the unborn human is an embryo (early weeks) and then "foetus" (until birth). A woman who is pregnant for the first time is known as a primigravida or gravida 1: a woman who has never been pregnant is known as a gravida 0; similarly, the terms para 0, para 1 and so on are used for the number of times a woman has given birth.

In many societies' medical and legal definitions, human pregnancy is arbitrarily divided into three trimester periods, as a means to simplify reference to the different stages of fetal development. The first trimester period carries the highest risk of miscarriage (natural death of embryo or fetus), while during the second trimester the development of the fetus can start to be monitored and diagnosed. The third trimester marks the beginning of viability, which means the fetus can survive if an early natural or induced birth occurs. Because of the possible viability of developed fetus, cultural and legal definitions of life often consider a fetus in the third trimester to be a distinct living person.

Good but inaccurate
I found this calendar to be very cute. The information on development was fun to read each day. The days past and the days remaining were correct but the weeks weren't. For some reason the weeks were off by a week. I followed the instructions in filling out the dates and my dates matched up with the days on each page but the weeks didnt match. Im not sure how they calculated the weeks but its wrong. For example it will say 85 days is 13 weeks but if you divide that by 7days a week it is week 12.

I love the calendar otherwise but I had to go through and correct the week number on each page because it was wrong. Hopefully they will correct this error in the next edition.
Great for 'Fathers to Be' too!
My wife and I have found this to be absolutely wonderful! This will be our first child, and with all of the volumes of reading and learning we have done, this simple item has been our favorite. Every morning we turn a page, and most days it is followed by "awww..." and smiles, as the discoveries are often quite precious. We've found this helps us keep everything in perspective, and we often cite the fun facts we learn with friends and family. As suggested by others, buy one for yourselves, and others to share with family so they can enjoy the journey with you. I look forward to rediscovering this with the next one in another year or two!
Creates more Excitement
I bought one of these for my husband, myself and my parents. It is the first grandchild and helped to get everyone into the miracle that was happening inside of me.

GREAT IDEA!!
VERY TOUCHING
I loved getting to work in the morning to learn what my baby was doing that day. I have bought this for all of my girlfriends that are expecting!
Delightful!
I heard about this book through a book review site, and had just found out that I was going to be a grandmother! There are so many wonderful books about pregnancy I had recommended for my daughter, but a book from the baby's point of view was too intriguing to pass up. When I received "The Making of Me", I got comfortable in my favorite chair and read it all in one sitting! I ohhed and ahhhed all the way through, smiling, cooing, and laughing. It is perfectly written and designed, a wonderful tool for first time moms-to-be, grandmothers who've forgotten much of this information, dads to be, grandpas, and aunts and uncles! I absolutely love it and so does my daughter!
