Health Books about infertility

What is infertility?

The International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination (INCIID) considers a couple to be infertile if: they have not conceived after a year of unprotected intercourse, or after six months in women over 35; there is incapability to carry a pregnancy to term. Healthy couples in their mid-20s having regular sex have a one-in-four chance of getting pregnant in any given month. This is called "fecundity".

Here and Now

Price: $22.00

Fate deals sisters Marcella and Raquel completely different lives in Kimberla Lawson Roby's Here and Now. Determined to give her children a better life, Marcella struggles to find financial stability without the aid of her unreliable ex-husband, Tyrone. When she stretches herself too thin between her job and full-time college classes, Marcella refuses to question her decision despite the negative effects it's having on her children. The promise of her new romance with a medical student named Darryl, and the support of her family encourage her to continue. But when Tyrone threatens to withhold his meager support, Marcella feels her careful balance starting to topple--sending her into a cycle of anger and aggression with Tyrone that threatens her own health as well as her relationship with Darryl.

Sister Raquel has the unconditional love and support of her husband, Kevin, yet she aches to have a child of her own. After years of fruitless efforts, Kevin is willing to consider fertility treatment or adoption, but Raquel refuses to give up on natural methods, and swears they need just one more chance. Her blind lack of realism starts to wear on Kevin, and their relationship begins to fray. When Raquel finally agrees to treatment, their marriage is subsumed by the effort, and they lose sight of each other. A pregnancy brings renewed hope, but have they already lost each other? Here and Now offers a poignant story of two women struggling to define their future and learning to value the present. Mundane details and an unexpected dream sequence may frustrate readers, but the appeal of Roby's strong characters and realistic issues outweigh any faults the book may have, making this an enjoyable and thought-provoking read. --Nancy R.E. Reviews:

I can't even finish this book....
I decided to try this book on a whim. I wish I had not.

The characters are not believable and the dialogue is pretty bad.

The author tries to make it seem, this book is about strong black women who overcome.

I have never seen a weaker bunch of chicks in my life.

One sister has children that are going without, she gets food stamps and at one point welfare (and lied to do so) and works a $7/hr job. Her kids' dad is an electrician that makes very good money, dresses nicely and does well for himself. However she won't take him to court and get child support. Yeah. That's what I call a strong woman.

I could go on, but I won't. If I keep writing, I will only get madder about the money I spent on this book.
GOOD. BUT DISAPPOINTING
THIS NOVEL STARTED OFF AS A GREAT ONE, BUT TOTALLY SUCKED IN THE MIDDLE. THE PLOT TAKES A NOSE DIVE AFTER AWHILE AND THE STORY BECOMES KIND OF STUPID AND NOT BELIEVABLE. THE CHARACTERS WERE NOT VERY REAL. THE NEXT BOOK SHE WRITES(IF I BUY IT AT ALL) I WILL BUY USED.
Family, friends and life......
This book was definitely a tear jerker. To have a loving mother that help her daughters, and helped their good friend. This book is one of my favorites. It has a lot of love, trust, understanding, faith and true friendship that lasted.

This book is an excellent book to read over.

Reality Fiction At It's Best
I am starting to think maybe Kimberla Lawson Roby and Eric Jerome Dickey are brother and sister. Because as far as I am concerned they are the brother and sister of REALITY FICTION. It also seems that both can take you right into other people's lives and homes.
In this novel you have two sisters who are very different but so much alike. Each thinks the other has the better life. The grass always looks greener on the other side. When you pick up this novel about Marcella and Racquel be prepared to spend your afternoon with a family while they go through their ups and downs. Until finally both sisters realize to be grateful for what you are already blessed with.
I Loved It
This book was a great book, and after reading "Behind CLosed Doors", I assumed that the author ould do even better on the next and was I right. This book was packed with drama, sadness, love, struggle, and pure evil and pain. A true solider Marcella who went through so much came out to be a stronger person in the end.
