Health Books about infertility

What is infertility?

The International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination (INCIID) considers a couple to be infertile if: they have not conceived after a year of unprotected intercourse, or after six months in women over 35; there is incapability to carry a pregnancy to term. Healthy couples in their mid-20s having regular sex have a one-in-four chance of getting pregnant in any given month. This is called "fecundity".

Reviews:

Utterly useless!
Don't waste your money! It states the obvious. Hey, if you want to get pregnant, don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Nothing else about this book useful...
This book is not for the average couple...
Aleksandra is obviously involved in the publication of this book somehow. Why this moron feels the defensive need to attack other reviewers is beyond me, and downright pathetic. Why do you have to call other people uneducated? Isn't the average reader allowed to post their opinions? You're a desperate loser and a pathetic excuse for a fellow human.

My wife and I bought this book last year hoping it would give us some basic answers to some very basic questions. I agree that the fertilization of a hamster egg is of little consequence to the average couple. We found our money was better spent on "Taking Control of Your Fertility." It offered us very basic information. We were pregnant the following month. Spend your money there. Don't listen to the agenda-pushing moron below!
Hamster Test and Pregnancy Comment Clarification
I just had to write a note about the review from "Amanda" concerning her Sperm and Hamster test comments. I am a fertility researcher and I can tell you that the ability of a sperm to fertilize a hamster egg is a VITAL and important fertility test. It is used to help determine if a sperm is capable of fertilizing an egg.

You can't always test sperm directly on the partner's egg because if fertilization does not take place you won't know if it's the sperm or the egg that's bad. And, since it is unethical to test the sperm directly on another woman's egg, the hamster test is a good alternative.Studies show that when performed under strict laboratory conditions, this test is one way a couple can learn if the fertility problem is sperm related - without having to put the woman through many expensive and painful tests. And,by the way, it doesn't hurt the hamster either! :)

It is unfortunate that misguided and uneducated readers are allowed to leave comments that can mislead those seeking information and help. This is a wonderful book and it offers every couple having problems conceiving an arsenal of options to try. It is especially helpful if you cannot afford medical treatments - and if you can, it helps explain all your options and offers important information that can save you precious time and money.

Please don't be discouraged by silly reviews written by misguided readers. And by the way, Amanda can find the answer to her question on LH and ovulation in Chapter 13 -How To Get Pregnant Fast-with a section specifically on LH on page 282. Don't miss this book - it will answer all your questions.
Excellent resource recommended by my doctor
I received this book as part of a fertilty welcome package from our reproductive endocrinologist. He told us it would help answer most of the questions we might have as we embarked on our journey to become parents. The book lived up to my doctor's word - it answered all our questions and then some. In fact, we ended up needing far less treatment than we thought we would, which we attribute to following some of the advice in this book, particularly the vitamin and food plans. We also took the book's advice about reducing stress and it seemed to help as well as I had better hormone readings after taking the advice. We are pregnant now - and thrilled! This is an excellent book for anyone who is having problems conceiving - particularly if you can't afford fertility treatments. I sense that alot of what is in this book will increase your odds- and my doctor concurs. This is also an especially valuble resource if you are undergoing fertility treatments since it explains many of the steps involved and teaches you how to maximize your chances for each one being successful. A great book!
The planets must be in alignment...
This book was my first choice since we are trying to conceive our first child, but upon reading this book I feel like we must change every habit and completely re-design our bodies in order to get pregnant!!! Now, it's a given you quit smoking (we're non-smokers) and cut back on the alcohol but some of the information is far-fetched. It makes you wonder what IS safe to eat, which over-the-counter medications are safe even if not trying to conceive! My wife and I wish we would have read Amazon's reviews BEFORE buying this book, we would have saved our money and had a little more self-confidence. The sad part is, even though this author is a convicted felon he will still make money off this book!!!
