What is indigestion?

Indigestion is a condition that is frequently caused by eating too fast, especially by eating high-fat foods quickly.

Symptoms of indigestion are as follows:

Excellent down-to-earth approach to digestion
Finally a helpful book anyone can understand. Lots of informative sections on everything from gallbladder attachs, IBS, to ulcers.
I often refer to this book whenever I am not feeling well. I have owned it for a year now and will never part with it.

I also recommend NO MORE HEARTBURN, by Sherry Rogers, M.D.

Why don't doctors spend more time educating their patients about healthy digestion and bowel function? If we all understood more, maybe we'd eat better. Everytime I'd gone to the doctor with pains, they'd shoved Prilosec, Nexium, or some other "P" antacid on me. I only got worse. Once I began following the advice in this book by Berkson, the whole world improved.
Don't bother. Its mostly drivel
Hey. Don't be fooled by all the positive reviews. This isn't really a book about bowel problems. Its about anecdotal, unsupported, stories about some people who might have improved anyway. No science. No pretense of science. Not much information. Just look at how many used copies are for sale. Save your money. Stop going to MacDonalds, go home and cook yourself a good meal. Get a cookbook. Learn to cook. Don't buy this book. Drivel
Great book for patients and doctors
As a naturopathic physician, treating the gut is a core principle. This book was recommended by one of my teachers and now that I am a practicing doctor I often refer back to this book. It offers patients (and doctors) a look at how true healing of the gut is approached. I highly recommend this book to all people.
Very Informative on a Topic We All Need More Info On
Most of us don't have a clue on how digestion really works and how it impacts every aspect of our lives. This book is good without being preachy as some natural healthy books can be. The author knows her stuff and you can tell she is committed to getting the word out on an important topic. I recommend this book if you're concerned about your health and want to understand how it all fits together. Even if you don't have any of the issues listed in the title the book talks about how to eat so that you can experience optimal health.
Great Reference for Digestive Problems
This book was the answer to all of my stomach problems. Dr. Berkson's book addressed my problem and then offered solutions. I tried the recommendations and within 3 weeks, I was feeling so much better. My particular problem has been ongoing for about 3 or 4 years. After trying over the counter products for years, I did as Dr. Berkson suggested...started drinking a lot more water, eating yogurt, taking glutamine, fiber pills, and Vitamin B1. I added this to my regimen of exercise, multi-vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin C, Folic Acid, and Calcium. The results are that I feel and look so much better. I have gained some of my weight back, I have more energy to deal with everyday life stresses, and as an added bonus, my skin looks much better. I just cannot express how much reading Dr. Berkson's book has changed my life and health for the better. I have also started drinking a caffeine free substitute for regular coffee called 'soyffee' which I came across on the net at www.S oy c off e e.c om. Its made from soya beans and is tasty and very healthy. I have now completely cut off caffeine drinks from my diet. My new diet and the incredible suggestions from this book not only make me feel better but also look better!
