Health Books about impotence

What is impotence?

Penile erection is managed by two different mechanisms. The first one is the reflex erection, which is achieved by directly touching the penile shaft and the second is the psychogenic erection, which is achieved by erotic stimuli. The first one uses the peripheral nerves and the lower parts of the spinal cord, whereas the second one uses the limbic system of the brain. In both conditions an intact neurologic system is required for a successful and complete erection. Stimulation of penile shaft by the nervous system gives rise to the secretion of nitric oxide (NO), which causes the relaxation of smooth muscles of corpora cavernosa (the main erectile tissue of penis), subsequently giving rise to penile erection. Additionally, adequate levels of testosterone (produced by the testes) and an intact pituitary gland are required for the development of a healthy male erectile system. As can be understood from the mechanisms of a normal erection, impotence may develop due to hormonal deficiency, disorders of the neurologic system, lack of adequate penile blood supply or psychological problems.

Good for general information
The book is a quick and easy read with good general information about erections and impotence, but it doesn't live up to its title. There is very little information on treatments besides injections and pumps.

The prevention that is given in this book is mainly about staying healthy. The prevention methods given could be described for preventing almost every other ailment out there.

I will be donating my copy to the local library to others can save the money. There are several other books out there that for a little more money give a lot more information.

A very limited view
The author seems to have invented a device to make testosterone injections to the penis more effective. He fails to mention less invasive means of delivering testosterone. Nor is Viagra ito be found here.

I'm sure there are some for whom penile injections are appropriate but I want information about all the alternatives before I make a decision. This booklet does not provide information on those alternatives.

Very informative!!!
You can finish reading this book in one sitting since it only contains 48 pages. Very straight forward and easy to understand. It answered many of my questions regarding male impotency problems.
